65-Year-old German Mother of 13 Now Pregnant with Quadruplets
A 65-year-old German schoolteacher who already has 13 children says she’s in her 21st week of pregnancy with quadruplets after undergoing artificial insemination and receiving donated eggs.
Annegret Raunigk has been criticized by ethicists for attempting the risky pregnancy to add to her existing large brood – which includes her oldest child of 44 – but the mother said she has no regrets and that her pregnancy is progressing well.
Her latest birth will be documented by a show on Germany’s RTL network, which reports that Raunigk had her last child in June 2005.
"So what if I'm 65?" Raunigk was quoted as telling RTL. "Why must one always hew to the obvious clichés? I find that quite exhausting."
